Vital Signs
All MAP certified staff are required to have Vital signs training. This training covers, Temperature, Pulse, Blood Pressure & Respirations. Each student will be evaluated on their skill, and receive a reference card with training. Your agency will receive a competency evaluation tool document that can be filed with the agency for compliance.
EpiPen Administration Training
EpiPen training for MAP cert staff and non certified staff covers EpiPen Administration, review of individual protocols, and an in depth review of Anaphylaxis. Each student will practice with an EpiPen Trainer, and be evaluated on the skill. This will include a competency evaluation tool to be filed with the agency for compliance. Individual protocols are covered in this training.
High Risk Medication Training
MAP currently identifies two high risk medications; Clozapine and Warfarin. Training is required for all MAP certified employees who will be administering these medications. This will include a competency evaluation tool to be filed with the agency for compliance. This is required every year if the MAP cert employee has not administered the medication in the past year and/or never has received training.
Diabetes Care
This training covers diabetes care in a group home/ day program setting. Education on individual protocols is required per MAP policy. Materials covered include recognizing hyper/hypoglycemia. Diabetic emergencies, following protocols and HCP orders, the anatomy and physiology of diabetes, and common management including the skill of taking a point of care blood sugar. This skill encompasses proper use and care of a point of care machine. Review of CGM systems will also be covered. This training includes a competency tool as required per MAP policy.
